Carers & Cleaners

Terms of use

These terms explain how Carers & Cleaners works and what we each agree to. We've tried to keep them short and in plain English.

Last updated: 3 October 2026

1. About us and our service

Carers & Cleaners is run by MJC (see our legal details). We introduce families to self-employed carers and cleaners who cover their area.

We're an introduction service only. We don't employ, supply, supervise or vet carers or cleaners. We don't arrange or manage their work, set their rates or take any part in agreements between families and providers. What carers and cleaners tell us about themselves, including insurance, DBS checks and training, is self-declared, and we show it that way.

You must be 18 or over to use Carers & Cleaners. We cover England, Scotland and Wales.

2. For families

  • Using Carers & Cleaners is free for families, and we never take a cut of what you pay a carer or cleaner.
  • You choose who you'd like to hear from, and any arrangement is between you and them. Please take your time, and make whatever checks give you peace of mind before agreeing any work. Our guides can help.
  • We don't guarantee that anyone will be available, or how well any work will be done.
  • Please only ask for introductions for genuine needs, and treat carers and cleaners with respect.
  • Reviews must be your honest opinion of a real experience, and you mustn't be paid or offered anything for them. We read every review before publishing it, and we may decline or remove reviews that are untrue, offensive or include personal details.
  • If you're worried about anyone listed here, please report a concern. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.

3. For carers and cleaners

Joining and your profile

  • You must be self-employed, 18 or over, and entitled to work in the UK. You're responsible for your own tax, National Insurance and insurance, and for following any laws that apply to your work.
  • Everything in your profile must be true and up to date, including what you tell us about insurance, DBS checks and training. Your photo must be of you, and any social media links must be to your own pages.
  • Please don't put contact details, website addresses or social media names in your description. Families contact you through introductions.
  • Profiles are checked automatically, and anything that raises a warning sign is looked at by a person. We may decline, pause or remove a profile, photo or link that breaks these terms, or if we have concerns about safety. Where we can, we'll tell you why.
  • You agree any work, rates and terms directly with families. We aren't part of that agreement.

Prices and payments

  • Listing: £1 a year.
  • Social media links (optional): £5 per link per year. They're only shown to families who have chosen you, in their introduction email.
  • Sponsored position (optional): £4.99 a month for each postcode area and type of work. You appear first, labelled “Sponsored”, when families in that area search for something you offer. Places are limited, and they're only available where enough carers or cleaners are listed.
  • Payments are taken by Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel, so you don't need to pay again yourself. You can cancel at any time under “Manage payments” on your profile. Your listing, links or sponsorship then continue until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • We don't refund part periods, unless we close your account through no fault of yours, or the law says otherwise. As you're using Carers & Cleaners for your business, consumer cancellation rights don't usually apply.
  • If we change our prices, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before your next renewal, so you can cancel if you'd like to.
  • We can't promise any number of enquiries or any amount of work.

4. Using the site

Please don't misuse Carers & Cleaners: for example by giving false details, trying to get around our security checks, collecting other people's details, or using it to advertise anything else. We may suspend anyone who does.

5. Our responsibility to you

We'll take reasonable care in running Carers & Cleaners. Because we only introduce people, we aren't responsible for the work carers and cleaners do, for how anyone behaves, or for any agreement made between families and providers. We aren't responsible for losses that we couldn't reasonably have foreseen.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.

6. Changes and ending

We may update these terms from time to time, and we'll change the date at the top when we do. If a change affects you significantly, we'll tell you by email first. You can stop using Carers & Cleaners at any time and delete your details or your account.

7. The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring a claim in the Scottish courts.
