About end of life support
Comfort and company in someone's final weeks or months at home: help with washing and changing, mouth care, gentle repositioning, sitting with them, and giving the family time to rest or simply be together.
Questions families ask
Who else is involved in end of life care at home?
Usually the GP, district nurses and often a local hospice team. A carer works alongside them, helping with day-to-day comfort.
Is any help free?
Often, yes. In England and Wales, someone nearing the end of life may qualify for fast-track NHS Continuing Healthcare; ask the GP or district nurse. Benefits can also be claimed quickly under special rules.
Can a carer stay through the night?
Many can, either sleeping in or staying awake all night. Ask what they offer and agree it early, as needs can change quickly.

Are you a carer in Wiltshire?
Join Carers & Cleaners for £1 a year and be found by families looking for end of life support near you. There's no commission: you set your own rates and families pay you directly.
Carers & Cleaners is an introduction service. We don't vet or employ anyone, and what carers and cleaners tell us about themselves is self-declared. Families choose who to speak to and agree everything with them directly.
